LVN Training | What To Expect In This Program
LVN or Licensed Vocational Nursing teaches basic nursing level education. There may be several programs in your State that let you earn this degree. Even LVN programs being offered online are gaining popularity. Becoming an LVN means you’ll need to study a lot of medical subjects and pass them all. Getting started with your LVN training is the first step in your goal as a nurse practitioner.
LPN programs are likely being offered in some high schools and other community colleges in your state. If not, there are several legitimate online programs for LVN degrees. However, some are not acknowledged by your primary nursing organization. To avoid this, you’ll need to check the online program with The National League of Nursing Accreditation Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education.
LVN (also known as LPN or licensed practical nursing) programs may take less than a year for you to get a degree. These programs are also being offered in some well-known high schools and other community colleges. There are two kinds of LVN training: clinical and classroom set-up.
Classroom training involves one-on-one interaction with the professor on basic lessons on nursing. You’ll learn several topics on clinical and medical subjects, such as anatomy and physiology, medications, nursing laws, and the scope of responsibility for LVNs, to name a few. RN and LPN subjects don’t vary that much, except that those taught to aspiring RNs is much more extensive.
Clinical training is where you’ll be able to practice your LVN skills as a professional. Usually, when you take LVN training, your work is under the supervision of a RN. This rule applies to most health care facilities, but some institutions give LVNs some freedom in their duties. These training programs are there to help LVNs gain confidence in honing their skills as an independent LVN practitioner in the future. When you’ve finished your training, you are now eligible to take the licensure exam.

Licensed LVNs are increasing in population lately. With this in mind, it’s important to get experience from several health care facilities to help you get progress in your LVN career. Nurses are highly competitive, so it’s important to hone efficient skills (i.e. First Aid, CPR training) that will make you more useful.
After your LVN training, you might want to proceed to being an RN. Some LVNs proceed to take an RN training course and get a BSN degree. Although LVNs have satisfactory salary and employment opportunities, RNs have better salary rates. Keep in mind that RNs carry a heavier responsibility in terms of patient care, so be prepared to take on this challenge.
